Open landscapes, sceneries seen through the
window frame
At the start of my creative career I dealt with landscapes
as the central topic in my work.
I only painted the diverse vistas of our country, semi
abstract and open as well as highly structured yet minimalist
in their nature. |
The scenery
seen through the window also attracted me very much
- it gave me the sense of "here and now," the "faraway"
and the framed scenery.
The composition of my landscape is on the one hand,
organized and structured in the form of configurational
minimalism and pastel coloring, and on the other hand
takes the shape of open landscapes with wide brush strokes.
My vista paintings were mostly created through a preliminary
observation of the scenery. The observations were initially
translated into aquarelle paintings and only then, at
my studio, were transferred to a canvas of larger scales.
. The utter majority of the landscape paintings are
over one square meter in size.
My scenery works have all been painted out of a sense
of stoic peace of mind and sentiments of affiliation
to the location my eyes were fixed on, a blessed delight
from the labor and effort put into the outcome and finally
a pursuing spiritual awakening. A great deal of my work
deals with sceneries of places across Israel such as
Jerusalem, Ein Gedi, the desert, the sea of Galilee
and of course sceneries of the Kibbutz at which I live-
