A series of paintings on women
Many of my paintings deal with female subjects and themes.
Women in global paintings, women of various characteristics
Women have been painted from earliest times till today
in various states. The female character and conscientiousness
was and is still a symbol of myriad topics, positive
and enjoyable on the one hand and often negative and
feeble on the other. Few were the artists who did not
approach the various themes and topics tied with women
in one way or another.
The paintings of women in my work often pay homage to
the artist and frequently express my views on different
subjects such as movement or the posture of the female
body, female aspirations and laments.
Illness
Throughout almost my entire life I have been accompanied
by illnesses. As a young woman –my late mother’s illness
(May she rest in peace), other illnesses in my nearest
family, the passing of my mother and the tragic death
of my sister in a car accident.
All the aforementioned led me to paint ‘The Hard Way”
where much personal torment and sorrow are expressed.
During the eighties and nineties and in particular since
2001 I myself fell ill. I suffered a great deal during
my many illnesses which incurred long periods of hospitalization.
During this grueling period my creative life went on
(as much as was possible) and my paintings in the studio
intensified in their "complexion" and” exposure,” bringing
about discomfort in the observer as well as in myself.
The ability to continue to prolifically create and channel
my emotions kept me going and still gives me the strength
and the fortitude to hold on to this world. |
